Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless.

A Note From Duane Hayes Flowers - Your Republican Candidate

Since I have made the commitment to seek the office of county commissioner, some have asked me why. I think about my family who fought for this nation from the Revolutionary War to Iraq. I recall my childhood and all the opportunity given to me and the fun I had growing up in Licking County. I think of my grandchildren and what tomorrow will bring. Then I ask, am I happy with the direction our government is heading? Will my grandchildren have the same liberties that were so unselfishly given to me? My gut tells me no. I believe today’s politicians believe in a NANNY State. They consider themselves the final word.

Do today’s politicians, who take the oath to uphold the Constitution have the slightest concept of what it is? Our ancestors died to create this document, We the People added the Bill of Rights. These enumerated rights say the government "SHALL NOT".  They are a fence built around the government by the Founders not to be crossed.  Over the past years some have found a way over the fence and they are out tramping down certain liberties. Is the Federal Government ignoring the 10th Article and running wild everywhere, ignoring States rights? The States and local servants appear to be ignoring Individual rights. When people fear the government, you have tyranny, when the government fears the people you have liberty, what side of the fence are you on?

We are now seeing the beginning of states trying to put together 10th amendment resolutions to try to force the Federal government back into their fence. I believe, that as of today 27 states are looking at similar resolutions.

Some will read this and agree, some will read this and wonder and some will read this and chuckle. I know that America is the greatest Nation ever to exist, but I fear for her future. I want my grandchildren and yours to grow up as I did. A country with a Representative limited government with Individual liberties inspired by moral values fixed by a creator.

What does all this have to do with being a county commissioner? The best type of government is that which is closest to the people, we need to give more credibility to our township trustees and get their input before we raise fees and add regulations onto the private individual within our townships. We need more transparency with the weekly agenda and we must once again put the consensus of We The People back into the daily workings of government.

My priorities are very simple - Transparency. To help the Individual and not to harm. To make sure we have strong basic services such as Law enforcement to protect our families from sexual predators, drug pushers and criminals and to let people run their own lives without government interference. I will look at every agency and look for duplications, staffing and streamlining and eliminate the picking and choosing of who is outside the law.

If you are happy with today’s politicians then vote the status quo, if not then vote for a limited government by seeking those candidates who care about Constitutional liberties and freedoms for every American.

With no Apologies,

Duane H. Flowers
